Costs of accepting instant payments and merchant fee
Instant payments at points of sale are a much cheaper collection method for merchants compared to, for example, card payments. Low transaction processing costs and the price policy of the National Bank of Serbia ought to encourage even merchants with low margins and low average transaction value to offer this type of payment to their buyers.
Overview of costs and fees:
The acquiring bank has a processing cost of RSD 1 for transactions up to RSD 600 and RSD 2 for transactions over RSD 600.
The acquiring bank pays to the issuing bank a multilateral interchange fee worth 0.2% of the transaction amount.
An example of the acquiring bank’s offer for the merchant:
IPS | Transaction up to RSD 600 (IPS NBS) | Transaction over RSD 600 (IPS NBS) | Multilateral interchange fee | Merchant fee |
Transaction by the bank’s clients (on-us) | RSD 0 | RSD 0 | / | 0.3 % |
Transaction by other bank’s clients (off-us) | RSD 1 | RSD 2 | 0,2 % | 0.5 % |
We suggest that you request the offers of several acquiring banks and compare them in order to make a decision which is in line with your business policy and involves the lowest costs.
